Lee County · Our home base since 2009
Sunstate Fence is based right here in Fort Myers. We install vinyl, aluminum, wood, chain link and SimTek fences across the city and the surrounding Lee County neighborhoods, pull the permit for you, and back every job with a 2-year workmanship warranty.
Fort Myers fence installation
Our shop is on Brothers Court in south Fort Myers, so most estimates here are a short drive away. That matters when you want an estimate this week, and it matters even more after a storm, when you need someone who can actually get out to look at a leaning post or a broken gate.
We build fences all over Fort Myers, from older streets along the McGregor Boulevard corridor and the historic Dean Park area near downtown to newer subdivisions off Daniels Parkway and Colonial Boulevard. Lot sizes, HOA rules and permit offices change from one part of town to the next, so we plan every fence around your property instead of a one-size layout.
Fence types
Every material we install handles Florida heat and humidity. Here is where each one fits best around Fort Myers.
The most requested fence for Fort Myers backyards. It won't rot or need paint in the humidity, and most HOAs approve white or tan.

Permits
Who issues your permit depends on where your property sits, not just your mailing address. A Fort Myers address can be inside the City of Fort Myers or in unincorporated Lee County.
Fence permits are filed through the city's EnerGov online portal. City rules for front yards are stricter than for backyards, so we confirm the height and design limits for your lot during the estimate and prepare the drawings the application asks for.
Permits go through Lee County's eConnect system. Front-yard fences can be 3 feet, or 4 feet if the fence is open. Side and rear fences can be 6 feet. Within 25 feet of a canal, river or lake, the fence must be open above 3½ feet.
Either way, we pull the permit for you as part of the job. If you live in an HOA, we'll tell you what your association usually asks for so your approval request goes in right the first time.
Storm-ready
Fort Myers has seen what storms can do. Hurricane Ian pushed record storm surge up the Caloosahatchee in 2022, and Hurricane Milton brought an EF-2 tornado to the city in 2024.
Every post is set deep in concrete for the height of your fence, so panels stay put through summer storms.
Vinyl, powder-coated aluminum and pressure-treated pine stand up to humidity, heavy rain and salt air near the river.
We build to your permit and local code, including Florida's pool barrier rules when your fence surrounds a pool.

FAQ
Yes. Both the City of Fort Myers and Lee County require a permit to install or replace a fence. We figure out which office covers your address and pull the permit for you.
In unincorporated Lee County, side and backyard fences can be up to 6 feet, and front-yard fences 3 feet, or 4 feet if the fence is open. City of Fort Myers front-yard rules are different, so we confirm the limits for your lot during your estimate.
Aluminum. It won't rust, it keeps your view, and in unincorporated Lee County a fence within 25 feet of the water has to be open above 3½ feet anyway.
