Charlotte County · Port Charlotte
Fences for Port Charlotte's canal homes and interior lots, built to Charlotte County's seawall and zoning rules. We install aluminum, vinyl, wood and chain link, pull the county permit, and back every job with a 2-year workmanship warranty.
Port Charlotte fence installation
Port Charlotte was laid out from the 1950s onward with neat rectangular lots and about 165 miles of man-made waterways, many with access to Charlotte Harbor. If you're on a canal, your fence near the seawall is limited to 4 feet. If you're on an interior lot, a 6-foot privacy fence is usually fine.
Hurricane Charley's eyewall struck Port Charlotte directly in 2004, and Ian brought heavy damage again in 2022. We build with that history in mind: weather-resistant materials and posts set deep in concrete.
Fence types
Open and low by the water, private on interior lots.
The right fit for canal lots and pools. Low, open aluminum meets the county's 4-foot seawall rule.

Permits
Port Charlotte is unincorporated, so fences are permitted by Charlotte County through its Citizen Access Portal, with a $30 zoning review.
Wood and chain link fences can be up to 6 feet. In the front setback, solid fences are limited to 3 feet and open fences to 4 feet.
No fence over 4 feet within 10 feet of the seawall, the mean high-water line or the property line, whichever is more restrictive.
A pool barrier needs its own Baby Barrier permit and must meet Florida's pool barrier law.
We prepare the site plan and affidavit and pull the permit. Starting work before the permit is issued can bring a penalty, so we always wait for approval.
Storm-ready
About half of Charlotte County's parcels sit in a flood hazard area, and storms like Charley and Ian have hit Port Charlotte hard.
Every post goes deep in concrete for the height of your fence.
Aluminum and vinyl won't rot or rust after high water or salt spray.
As the county requires, the finished side faces your neighbor or the street.
