Southwest Florida · Lee County
Sunstate Fence has installed fences across Lee County since 2009, from Cape Coral canal lots to Lehigh Acres acreage and Estero golf communities. We pull the permit with whichever city or county office covers your address and back every job with a 2-year workmanship warranty.
Lee County fence installation
Lee County isn't one set of fence rules. Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero, Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach each issue their own permits, and everywhere else, from Lehigh Acres to North Fort Myers and Pine Island, falls under the county. A fence that's legal in one place can be rejected a few miles away.
Because we're based in Fort Myers and work all over the county every week, we know which office covers your address and what it expects. We plan your fence around those rules, prepare the paperwork, and pull the permit for you.

Permits
Your permit office depends on where your property sits, not your mailing address.
Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, San Carlos Park, Gateway, Alva and Pine Island use the county's eConnect system. Front fences can be 3 feet (4 if open), side and rear 6 feet, and within 25 feet of water the fence must be open above 3½ feet.
The city's EnerGov portal. No fence in front of the house, 6-foot maximum, and open fencing above 3 feet in the rear 20 feet of waterfront lots. A wildlife affidavit comes with every permit.
Each issues its own permits with its own front-yard, waterfront and coastal rules. Sanibel, for example, keeps fences 20 feet back from open water.
Whichever office covers you, we prepare the application and pull the permit. If you have an HOA, we'll give you the details it asks for so you can submit your request.
Storm-ready
Hurricane Ian made landfall in Lee County in 2022, and Milton brought tornadoes to Fort Myers and Matlacha in 2024. Fences here have to be built for it.
Every post goes deep in concrete for the height of the fence, so it holds through hurricane season.
Vinyl and powder-coated aluminum handle canals, salt air and humidity without rusting or rotting.
We build to your permit, including Florida's pool barrier rules and the county's waterfront setbacks.
